I enjoy playing with color and texture, using different techniques to see what kind of accidents I can make and then pulling out the images from there.

Leela Payne intuitively works through the process of placing organic lines and vibrant color on canvas to create ethereal symbolic visions. Just like the meaning of her name Leela, play and creativity are important in the exploration of all things art. She believes that the painting process is more of a spiritual journey that leads enlightenment and self-reflection. Leela received a Bachelors degree from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and a Masters degree of Supervision and Leadership in the Visual Arts from Bank Street College and School of Visual Art School in New York City.
